…just got a little tighter, with the news that a major bookshop chain has increased its discount by 5%. Obviously, this comes straight off our bottom line (it doesn’t affect authors, as their remuneration for hardcopy books is based on the jacket price, and not the money we make per sale).
Winston Smith has been interviewed this week by Margarette Driscoll for a major piece in the Sunday Times… if it doesn’t get held out for space reasons because of theĀ News of the World scandal, which continues to get more and more astonishing and unpleasant. I think the paper will eventually close down because of it, and I would not like to be in Coulson’s shoes right now (or ever, actually).
UPDATE: By ‘eventually’, I meant ‘immediately’, obviously.
